Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cozy Roomies mobile application (the "App") and any related services. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The App

Cozy Roomies is a native iOS application for splitting rent and tracking shared household expenses. The App is published by the developer of Cozy Roomies ("we", "us", "our"). It is distributed exclusively through Apple's App Store.

2. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to all apps distributed through the App Store and which you can read at Apple's standard EULA. In the event of any conflict, Apple's EULA controls for the matters it covers.

3. Subscriptions (Cozy Plus)

Cozy Roomies offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions to unlock additional features, marketed as "Cozy Plus." Current pricing:

Pricing in your local currency may differ based on Apple's regional pricing and applicable taxes; the price shown in the App at the moment of purchase is the price you will pay.

Billing. Subscriptions are billed by Apple to the payment method associated with your Apple ID. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal charge is billed within 24 hours of the end of the current period.

Free trial. If you start a free trial and do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you will be charged the regular subscription price at the end of the trial. Free trials are only available to new subscribers, as determined by Apple.

Managing or cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID Settings on your device (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions) or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.

Refunds. All refund requests are handled by Apple under their refund policies. We do not have the ability to refund App Store purchases ourselves.

Price changes. We may change subscription pricing for future renewal periods. Apple will notify you of any price increases in accordance with App Store policies before they take effect, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

Anything you enter in the App — rent splits, roommates, bills, settlements, notes — belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership over your data, and as described in our Privacy Policy, we do not collect it. When you use the optional iCloud Backup or roommate sharing features, your data is stored in your own iCloud account under Apple's terms.

6. Roommate sharing

When you invite a roommate to share a household, you grant the invited participant access to the data in that household through their own iCloud account. You are responsible for whom you invite. Participants can edit shared data; only the owner can remove participants or stop sharing. If a participant leaves or is removed, their local copy of any past data remains on their device. The owner is the household member who created the shared household; this role does not currently transfer.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. The App does not provide financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice; calculations are based on the inputs you provide and are intended as a convenience for splitting expenses among roommates, not as an authoritative financial record.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App and Cozy Plus during the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) ten U.S. dollars ($10.00).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

9. Apple as third-party beneficiary

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App. In the event the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the App's purchase price to you (if any); Apple has no further warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Changes to the App or Terms

We may update the App and these Terms over time. Material changes to these Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date, and (where appropriate) surfaced in-app. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or to specific features if you materially violate these Terms or applicable law. The sections of these Terms intended to survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer resides, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
